Hello, re your telegram to VOLOGDA poste restante, we have a service message from post office VOLOGDA-45, counter officer writes that she must match full name with ID card of the person who will pick up the telegram, it requres full name like first, last and fathers name. Otherwise she can not give the telegram out. Please give me this info and I will forward it to VOLOGDA-45. Please advice, thanks. OP18

We have the highest standard of privacy, specified in the Provisions by International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Comitee. Usually a courier rings the bell and asks: "I have a telegram for Anna Ivanova", person opened the door says "yes, its OK" and sign for the telegram. Courier is not obliged to ask for any person ID, so technically it could be any female person residing in the household.

re your telegram to Italy I received a warning from Italian routing centre, ADDRESS INSUFFICIENT NO STREET NUMBER NO PHONE NUMBER TO REROUTE. They forwarded telegram as-is to the station VERONA for delivery. This is just a warning. If you feel that the telegram contents is very important it is recommended to try reaching the recepient by other means (e.g. telephone). Please let me know if I can be of further help.

I am interested in sending a fairly long telegram to Vladivostok. I would like to know if there is a maximum length that a telegram can be and how it's printed out in Russia. I noticed on one of your web pages that the official telegram notice looks quite small. Are long telegrams a problem?
Dear Mr. McClay, I looked into the system for this. I can see from the routing information that the time on the confirmation is Moscow time. Novosibirsk time is about 3-4 hours in front. I.e. it was about 8-9 in the morning local time. According to the rules only URGENT telegrams are delivered from the central post office during the night. Regular telegrams delivered in the day. According to my knowledge a courier is on the way every 3-4 hours, first time he goes quite early in order to catch people before they go to work. This all is valid for big cities like Novosibirsk. Smaller cities deliver telegrams during 12 hours (courier once a day) and in villages the norm is 24 hours. The very last deadline is 48 hours, independent of reason of non-delivery the telegram will be returned to the sender. This is what the rules say. As you see you do not disturb anybody if you send a regular telegram - earliest delivery is when people already wake up. Should you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.
Dear Telegram Gateway, Perhaps I need to better watch at what time I send telegrams. I guess you were truly serious when you mentioned that by Russian Law telegrams are to be delivered within 6 hours. If I'm reading the confirmation notice correctly about my last telegram it was delivered at 4:40 a.m.. I would really appreciate it if you could please confirm this for me. And also, if you have any suggestions on how I can avoid such an early delivery time I would sincerely by very grateful.

I see from the database that you have difficulties submitting the difference by your credit card. Please submit the difference in some hours, because our security system disallows using the same credit card after a short period of time.

The answer is yes, the telegrams to private addresses are delivered 7 days. Telegrams to business adresses, companies etc are delivered Mo through Fr. Let me know if you have further questions.

one more thing - username does not appear in telegram. If user is Jeeves - he can can submit the telegram and sign Jeeves, but username must be one in the file.

You can pay by sending a check, please write shortly that you have sent a check, its number and the name of the bank. You may wish to register and pay minimum registration of USD 30. For this you will get: * USD 3 "new account bonus" * your tele will be charged as USD 18, not 22 * you will obtain return telegraph address in Russia. Your correspondent can send an in-country telegrams from any post office - they are very cheap. They will be forwarded to you immediately after they reach our telegraph machine, normally in 3-4 hours after your correspondent has submitted them from post office.
